A: Our custom design gown process begins with a one-on-one consultation with Ruthy (owner/lead designer). At Ruthy’s, we believe that each bride is a unique individual and deserves to be celebrated as such. Designing custom gowns from scratch gives a special opportunity to cater to the bold brides, the bad-ass brides, the brides who simply aren’t satisfied with traditional options. Ruthy’s interactive, intimate, and exclusive process involves the client from start to finish. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
Q: What do I need to get started?
A: Call us at (850) 554-8764 to schedule your custom gown consultation. The first appointment is generally a sit-down with Ruthy, who will collect the necessary information and initial measurements to begin. Together, you will review fabric options and choose the best color and style to suit your garment. Visual aids (example photos, sketches, etc.) are not required for the design process but they are helpful and encouraged.
Q: How much does a consultation cost?
A: We charge a flat-rate fee of $250.00 for a one-on-one custom gown consultation with Ruthy. This includes one hour of appointment time, a custom sketch of your design, and a detailed price quote. If you choose to proceed at this point, the consultation fee will be applied to your total balance. The consultation fee is non-refundable in the event of a client cancellation or contract termination. This information will be detailed and compiled in a contract. Signing the contract at your next appointment is the last step in the booking process. Now the fun can truly begin!
Q: How far ahead do I need to book?
A: A custom consultation must be made at least 6 to 12 months before your event or “wear date”. Custom gowns require a minimum of 4-6 months production time, depending on the design and detail of the gown.
Q: What happens when my dress is done?
A: Each custom gown is celebrated with a private reveal party at Ruthy’s studio. As a Ruthy’s Custom Bride, you may miss out on the initial shopping experience, but we still aim to provide that special “this is my dress!” moment. Feel free to invite your loved ones to share in the magic with you. We provide complimentary champagne upon request.
Q: How much does a custom gown cost?
A: The price of custom gown varies greatly according to the desired design. Other factors that affect the price include the type of fabric/general cost of materials, and the number of layers required to properly achieve the style of gown requested, per each individual client. We do offer payment plans to split costs across the design timeline for client convenience.
